PLAYCARE & DAY TRAINING
As of February 1, 2022, Playcare & Training and the Puppy Program will be temporarily suspended until completion of our new facility next to Critter Care on E 15th St in Panama City, FL.
At Dogmata, the term “doggy daycare” is an insult to us. Unlike the typical dog daycare facility, we focus on the quality, not the quantity, of dogs that we accept into our exclusive, member’s only pack. Our playcare members follow the same rules, boundaries, and limitations as our personal pack, so only positive behaviors are reinforced. Membership requires Playcare participation a minimum of three days per week so we can instill a consistent routine. This ensures that our environment remains a balanced, stress-free serenity so our pack members can truly socialize and indulge their canine desires. All dogs are lead by our canine behaviorists who have over 45 years of proficient working knowledge and experience in canine ethology (non-human animal behavior).
We personally pick up our members Monday through Friday between 6:00am and 7:30AM . By 8:00AM, we return to our real home environment, secluded by nearly 10 acres of white oaks—including several spring-fed ponds. Obedience and behavior training is interwoven throughout the day with running, swimming, sniffing, pack play, and sunbathing. Our pack members return to their second homes, fulfilled and better behaved, by 6:00PM.
Our Pack Membership is reserved for handlers who have earned the American Kennel Club's Canine Good Citizen (CGC) title with their dog or puppies participating in our Puppy Program. There is a minimum thirty (30) day preliminary period for all new members. Violation or infraction of any Membership Bylaw will/may result in membership revocation. Upon obtaining the CGC title, our human members are expected to continue to provide their dog with the ideal lifestyle of exercise, discipline THEN affection every day.
Playcare is not a substitute for maintaining your responsibilities as a dog owner.
PLAYCARE PUPPY PROGRAM
THE FIRST 16 WEEKS IS A Puppy’s MOST CRITICAL LEARNING PERIOD
Studies show puppies that are stimulated with early training and socialization will grow to have a larger brain with more neural pathways, allowing them to calmly handle new experiences as an adult. Puppies that are left at home all day with little sensory stimulation will try to stimulate their senses themselves, often by being destructive. When puppies are under-stimulated, they become predisposed to developing smaller brains and restricted minds, making learning difficult and paving the way for anxious, fearful, and aggressive behaviors. Puppies also model their activities on the behaviors that they observe in other dogs (allelomimetic behaviors). They want to be with other dogs, to follow their lead, and to mimic their behavior.
Our Puppy Program is an eight week program designed to make puppyhood more enjoyable by instilling human leadership through rules, boundaries, and limitations in combination with socialization. Puppies will be positively kennel trained, learn to walk off-leash in a heel position, learn 10 non-verbal commands inside and outside off-leash (with distractions), exposed to basic grooming (such as nail trims), and more! The goal is that by the end of the eight week period, puppy and owner are able to successfully pass the American Kennel Club's Canine Good Citizen test and obtain their title - allowing long-term membership to Dogmata.
This program is reserved for puppies under 5 months of age
